On June 15, 2021, International Islamic Food Processing Association (“IFPA”) held a meeting with representatives of the National Union of Beekeepers of Kazakhstan (“Union”) – one of the largest union of beekeepers in Kazakhstan, intending to develop the beekeeping industry, as well as promoting and protecting the interests of beekeepers in Kazakhstan. The Union, which was created in 2010, includes about 400 members and intends to turn Kazakhstan into a leading beekeeping state and become the top ten world honey producers.

At the meeting H.E. Sheikh Bilal Khan, Director General and CEO of IFPA, and H.E. Mr. Sergey Tereshchenko, the President of the Union (the first Prime Minister of Kazakhstan) discussed about challenges facing the industry, implementation of modern beekeeping technologies, export regulations and certification of bee products. The parties agreed to work together in identifying strategic OIC markets for exporting the unique Kazakh natural honey and help create awareness about its special organic features with an unprecedented sky-high demand in the current post-Covid environment.
